Lara also learned from the family. Grandpa, a Civil Rights Attorney who argued cases before the United States Supreme Court, provided healthier working conditions for Americans. Mensa Dad, a Political Strategist, has championed environmental companies to inner-city schools. And best-friend Mom, a Psychotherpist and Social Worker, emphasized mental health (and physical health) from the get-go. By age 2, Lara was attending psychotherapy grad school when Mom couldn't find a sitter. She may have been chewing on my crayons, but while subconsciously absorbing theories of counseling. By age 5 (at Sidwell Friends) she was playing on Capital Hill (mostly with the hole-puncher) but while subconciously absorbing something larger. But by age 10, moving from D.C. to L.A., she was at the forefront of the diet/fitness industry, watching hot Mom participate in Richard Simmons' test group for Deal-a-Meal, and Jane Fonda's pilot for the first free-weight video. Bringing the diverse conditioning together, she ended-up teaching about "law," but universal laws of health and vitality. But while she's had plenty of formal and family education, her real work comes from daily insight, hindsight and foresight. The most important diplomas are from the School of Life, learning our personal yet universal lessons, and teaching by example. By developing her intuitive wellspring, she just helps others to uncover their own.
